In the past few years, my hair has endured A LOT. Since G and I shoot almost everyday, between posts for the blog, Instagram, YouTube videos, and personal photos, I have to style and use a lot of heat on my hair to the point where it’s experienced a lot of breakage. In addition, I’ve also been dying my hair lighter for years which has really minimized it’s natural shine and texture. It’s been a journey to say the least and I found myself wishing I could go back in time to when my hair was natural, fresh and care-free!
As soon as I found out I was pregnant almost 7 months ago, my priorities changed instantly…
I wanted to simplify my life as much as possible, even in the beauty department! I tossed out a lot of products that I felt were unnecessary and started paying close attention to products that were more natural and chemical-free. Between getting ready for the baby, house-hunting, and keeping up with work, I became really sensitive to how much time and energy I was putting into my beauty and hair routine. That said, I really wanted to get into the habit of being less high maintenance so that when the baby is here, I’ll have more time to devote to her. Let’s be honest…spending 2 hours on my glam every morning isn’t very realistic with a newborn.
This is my first pregnancy so I had no idea what to expect and my body has been changing so quickly! Within the first few months, I got down to business and started making small changes in my wardrobe, beauty products, and diet. After taking prenatal vitamins for some time, I’ve noticed my hair has started to get a lot healthier again, is growing very quickly, and becoming thicker than ever! Of course I’m not complaining!! I couldn’t be happier that my hair is finally feeling like it’s old self, but with long and thick hair comes more weight.. something that was becoming hard to manage with an even more rapidly growing belly! I knew it was time to try something new with my hair, so I decided to cut it shorter and add some major layers to lighten it up and create more dimension. I started using Herbal Essences haircare products religiously, and the results have been amazing!! Between the products and my new cut, I’ve been able to let my hair air dry more which is nice because I’ve been avoiding a lot of the heat damage I was causing before. I’ve also been using my Herbal Essences products on a regular basis to get that natural bounce and volume! With only a couple months left in my pregnancy, I feel so much lighter, fresh and less high maintenance. Making all these changes in such a short amount of time has been drastic and an adjustment, but I haven’t felt this refreshed in years and I’m loving it!
A big thank you to Herbal Essences and POPSUGAR for sponsoring this post.
