Hi my loves!! Hope you’re having an amazing week! Today I’m super excited to be partnering with Nordstrom and Byrdie Beauty to share 3 of fall’s best beauty trends! From full-face glow, to 90s matte brown lips, and showing you how to make berry lips feel fresh again! These looks are surprisingly quick and easy to re-create and wearable for everyday life. Keep scrolling to see my steps and tips on how to achieve each look!
Look #1: Full-Face Glow
No matter what season we’re in, one of my favorite makeup trends has always been a fresh, all over glowing look! It’s refreshing, natural and who doesn’t want to walk around getting compliments about their glowing skin?! While highlighting is one of the main steps to achieving this look, it can actually make your face look more shimmery and shiny rather than giving you that glossy glow-from-within feel. Read on for my tips to mastering the full face glossy look and get ready for compliments on the best skin of your life!
Step 1: I started by prepping my skin with Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow Instant Soft Beauty Flash which is the perfect primer to give your skin that glowing look! I like that this primer has a very silky texture and creates a natural-looking finish. The formula contains complexion-enhancing light diffusers to give your skin that glow-from-within without adding layers to your face. I prefer to apply my primer with my fingers because I like to work it into the skin like a moisturizer.
Step 2: Next I applied my foundation, MAC Studio Fix Fluid Spf 15 in the shade NC 40. When it comes to foundation, I like to only use it where it’s needed. I apply it on the larger areas of my face such as my cheeks, forehead, chin and blend it all together for the most natural and soft finish. To accomplish this look, I find working the foundation in with my beauty sponge works best!
Step 3: After letting my foundation set, I applied MAC Pro Longer Concealer under my eyes and down the bridge of my nose. This formula is super creamy and high-coverage so it camouflages even the darkest circles and any hyperpigmentation.
Step 4: As I mentioned earlier, creating an all over glow isn’t about piling on the highlighter, but using a soft and subtle illuminator that will create a lit-from-within complexion rather than streaky highlight. Here I’m using MAC Strobe Cream on my cheekbones, bridge of my nose and above my brow bone. What I love about this strobe cream is it’s iridescent pearly finish that instantly boosts your skin and seems to create light across your entire face.
Step 5: Now for lips! Since this look is all about the skin, I wanted to keep my lips looking minimal. I’m using Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Liquid Lip Color in ‘Charlotte Darling’ because it’s the perfect beige-nude lipstick that has just a touch of pink! It can be hard to find that perfect beige-nude shade that isn’t too pale or chalky, and this is it. Another thing I love about this lipstick is that the formula contains hyaluronic acid, so it helps your lips retain moisture even with a matte finish!
Step 6: To finish off the look, I applied Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lip Gloss in Bare Sparkle to give my lips a soft sheen that adds to the overall glow!
Look #2: Matte Brown Lips
This second look is all about 90s-inspired brown lips that are modern and wearable! Matte brown lips are a great trend to recreate for fall, but can also be a tricky color to pull off no matter what skintone you are. The trick to pulling off this statement lip is keeping the rest of your makeup natural, adding just a bit of liner, neutral shadows, mascara and the perfect brow. I’m also sharing my best tips and tricks for keeping a bold statement lip like this on all day (and night)!
Step 1: I’m starting off by prepping my lips. Whenever doing a daring lip, I always like to prep my lips to ensure I get maximum color payoff. I simply dab a bit of concealer all over my lips to create a nice clean canvas for the color, which also keeps your lips stain-free after removing the lipstick!
Step 2: After prepping my pout, I applied Tom Ford’s Lip Color Matte in ‘Black Dahlia’. Since I’m aiming for super intense color, I’m doing about 2-3 coats. As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to create an updated and wearable version of this 90s trend. This lipstick in Black Dahlia was the perfect shade, a cool reddish cinnamon brown, ideal for fall!
Step 3: Since this is bold statement lip, the last thing I want is to risk the color getting outside my lips or on my teeth! To avoid this, I simply pressed a tissue between my lips and on my mouth to make sure the color stays put all day and night!
Step 4: Pulling off a bold statement lip is one thing, but making it last is another. The last step to ensuring a long-wearing lip color is using a light layer of the translucent setting powder. Here I used Diorskin Forever & Ever Control Extreme Perfection Matte Finish Invisible Loose Setting Powder. I love this invisible setting powder because it’s super lightweight and doesn’t detract from the pigment. A lipstick trick my mom actually taught me is to take a piece of tissue, position it over your lips, and lightly tap the setting powder onto the tissue.
Look #3: Berry Lips
Berry lips come and go, but this fall they are coming back better than ever..Berry lips that look a bit smudged, brighter, and glossier than ever before! With this lip I wanted to create a look that was refreshing and fun for daytime, but still quick and easy to do on-the-go.
Step 1: I started by prepping my lips for a pop of color. To ensure the berry lip is radiant and long-wearing as possible, I lightly exfoliated my lips with my toothbrush bristles and then followed by applying a bit of my concealer with my fingers.
Step 2: Next I applied YSL’s Vernis a Levres’ Vinyl Cream Lip Stain ‘#415 Fuchsia Beats’. It’s the perfect shade of berry that is vibrant and refreshing for daytime! I love how this cream lip stain applies and wears on my lips. It glides on super smooth, and to create a velvet matte finish , I dabbed the pigment into my lips for a just bitten appearance.
Step 3: To give my lips a bit of lustre, I used my finger to lightly pat on MAC Clear Lipglass. Since the lip color is already so perfect, I didn’t want to add any colored gloss and risk washing out the berry tone. This lipglass is the perfect finish because it adds a glossy fullness to your pout without removing any of the stain!
And voila!! Three fun fresh and simple makeup looks to try out for fall! Let me know which look you’re going to try out first!
